Once students have their laptop ready to bring to school, they can join our secure, custom built Wi-Fi network.
Enrolling a device
Students can now prepare their device at home, without needing to visit the IT Help Desk. In fact, it's easier to enrol at home than at school.
Students should follow the instructions in the videos below to enrol.
Android and Chromebook devices are not supported.
Students will need to know their email address (email@example.com) and password to complete the process. If they do not know their password their teacher can help reset it.

My child has an older Windows device. Will it work on the new network?
If your child's device is running Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, it will need to be upgraded to Windows 10. This can be done for free. If the device runs Windows 10 'S Mode' it may need to be upgraded to standard Windows 10 first. See the Microsoft support guide for more.
The device will also need to have a 5Ghz Wi-Fi receiver, which is in most laptops and tablets manufactured within the last 5 years. If your device does not have this receiver, you can purchase a 5Ghz dongle for less than $30 from most computer stores. Contact the IT Help Desk if you require help.
What are the costs?
In 2021, the BYOx levy will be discontinued to allow families more
Previously, the school charged a small fee of $50 per student per year. These fees supported a range of benefits to students, including:
increased internet bandwidth (x4 more than the Education Queensland guarantee)
40% more IT Support staff
administration of free, secure lockers for any student throughout the year
Increased technical support with devices*
access to free chargers and emergency HotSwap loan devices
*School technicians can inspect devices but usually cannot perform repairs to devices or the warranty will be void. The manufacturer or computer vendor must handle all hardware or software faults. Most manufacturers will not cover deliberate damage to a machine and it is the responsibility of the device owner to ensure the safety of the device.
A Wi-Fi network for the future
Completed in October 2020
Park Ridge SHS is the first high school in South East Region (EQ) to overhaul it's Wi-Fi network with new, state-of-the-art Wi-Fi technology to provide an ultra-fast, modern internet network.
This upgrade commenced with planning in September 2019, with works carried out during June-October 2020. The network is now fully operational for the 2021 school year.
