Dear Park Ridge State High School Students, Parents, and carers,

I hope this finds you well and ready for an exciting year at Park Ridge State High School. As we commence 2024, I extend a warm welcome to both our returning students and families and those joining our school community for the first time. We are thrilled to have you with us and are eager to embark on a journey of learning, growth, and success together.

At Park Ridge State High School, we believe that our purpose is to provide our students with a versatile education for a versatile world. We strive to create a nurturing and dynamic learning environment that fosters academic success, personal growth, and positive values. It is essential that we maintain a collaborative and respectful atmosphere to ensure the success and well-being of every student. To this end, I would like to take this opportunity to outline some important expectations regarding student behaviour, parent engagement, uniform, and attendance.

Student Behaviour:

1. At PRSHS, our commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that is grounded in three core expectations: we are here to learn, we are here to do what is right, and we are here to work together. Central to these principles is the cultivation of a respectful and inclusive atmosphere. Students are expected to treat their peers, teachers, and staff with kindness and consideration. Actively participating in classes, demonstrating respect for diversity, and taking responsibility for one's actions serves as the foundational pillars of positive behaviour within our school community. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that Park Ridge State High School is now mobile phone free for the entirety of the school day in line with Education Queensland’s away for the day policy. Our current mobile phone policy is located on the school website.

Parental Engagement:

We firmly believe that fostering a strong partnership between parents and the school is vital for the success of each student. Your active involvement significantly shapes your child's educational journey. We strongly encourage you to actively participate in parent-teacher meetings, engage in school events, and maintain open communication with our dedicated teaching staff. By doing so, we can collectively establish a nurturing network that not only supports the well-being but also contributes to the academic success of all our students. It is essential to emphasise the importance of maintaining positive relationships with the school and its staff, treating us with respect and refraining from any form of abusive or disrespectful behaviour.

Uniform Standards:

Our school uniform represents a sense of pride, unity, and professionalism. We kindly request all students to adhere to the uniform policy diligently. A neat and tidy appearance not only fosters a sense of belonging but also creates a conducive environment for focused learning.

Punctuality and Attendance:

Regular and punctual attendance is crucial for academic achievement and the social connections that support a student to feel part of the PRSHS community. We request parents ensure that their children arrive at school on time every day. If for any reason your child cannot attend, please notify the school promptly. We have a minimum attendance target of 92%, which most of our students can attain or exceed. Consistent attendance is a key factor in the success of our students, and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

As we commence the 2024 academic year, let us commit to working together to make Park Ridge State High School a place of excellence, respect, and achievement. We look forward to a year filled with exciting opportunities, growth, and shared successes.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our school office. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Wishing you a fantastic school year ahead!

Warm regards,

Sharon Amos

Executive Principal
