What is Year 10 Manufacturing Technology (Electronics)?
Year 10 Manufacturing Technology (Electronics) prepares students for a Certificate II in Manufacturing Technology (Electronics) that will be offered in Years 11 and 12.
In this course students will learn the skills needed to safely undertake basic electrotechnology work and solve problems in extra-low voltage single-path and multiple-path DC circuits.
They will learn about environmentally sustainable work practices and the selection and use of materials, tools and components for electrical work.
This course also covers a General Safety Induction course (OnGuard Modules) – a preparation of industry requirements to work on Queensland construction sites, and some of the units needed for the first stage of an electrical apprenticeship.

Year 10 | Semester 1 | Students learn about safety measures and how to apply them in Electronics settings. Students will explore electronics waste including defining sustainable solutions to re-use and recycle e-waste in a circular economy. Students research and explore how electronic components work. Students learn to design electronic circuits in series and parallel using extra-low voltage single-path and multiple-path DC circuits. Students explore Ohm's law and how to apply the law about voltage, current and power in their projects. Students select and use appropriate technologies to produce high-quality designed solutions suitable for the intended purposes.

| Students will explore electronics in a Global context: Space, Future developments, sustainable energy projects. Students research and explore how solar energy works. Students learn about complex electronic circuit boards.
