Qualification description
Clean technologies applies to a learning and assessment environment where access to normal production operations is not available. Students will develop key manufacturing skills through practical and hands-on work in a simulated or trial manufacturing workplace environment. They will have the opportunity to undertake on-the-job work placement to apply and enhance their skills, but their main location of study is onsite as Park Ridge State High School (RTO scope pending 30421).
The key learning experiences within this course include:
- Occupational, Health and Safety
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Data analysis
- Completing basic forms
- Learning how to perform high reliability hand soldering
- Learn how to dispose of e-waste effectively
- Learn how to plan an electronic project
Entry requirements
At enrolment, each student will be required to create (or simply supply if previously created) a Unique Student Identifier (USI) External link. A USI creates an online record of all training and qualifications attained in Australia.
A Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) Screening process is undertaken at the time of initial enrolment (or earlier) to ensure students have the capacity to effectively engage with the content.
Delivery modes
A range of delivery modes will be used during the teaching and learning of this qualification. These include:
- face-to-face instruction
- work-based learning
- guided learning
- online learning
Fees
$100.00 subject levy per year is inclusive of all excursions and specialist material required to complete the course.
Course units
Students will participate in the delivery of a range of activities and projects within the school. Graduates will be competent in a range of essential workplace skills – including literacy and numeracy skills, health and safety, oral communication, reading and responding to workplace information, soldering, disposal of e-waste and planning electronics projects.
Assessment
Program delivery will combine both class-based tasks and practical components at the school. This involves the delivery of a range of projects and services within their school community. A range of teaching/learning strategies will be used to deliver the competencies. These include:
- observations on practical tasks
- projects
- activity booklets
- questioning and feedback from supervisors.
Evidence contributing towards competency will be collected throughout the course.
To attain a FSK20119 Certificate II in Skills for work and Vocational pathways 14 units (1 core units plus 13 elective units of competency) must be achieved:

RTO obligation
The RTO (PRSHS #30421) guarantees that the student will be provided with every opportunity to complete the qualification. We do not guarantee employment upon completion of this qualification.
Students who are deemed competent in all units of competency will be awarded a Qualification and a Record of Results.
Students who achieve at least one unit of competency (but not the full qualification) will receive a Statement of Attainment. Certificates will be issued at the end of year 12 in Term 4.
Students who enter late into the course may not be able to achieve the certificate due to reduced contact time.
Pathways
The Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways will predominantly be used by students seeking to enter any workplace environment.
