Departing Students - IT Tasks

​As you prepare to leave, it's crucial to save your important emails, files, and BitLocker recovery key. Follow the instructions below to ensure you retain everything you need. If you are going to another QLD state school you can disregard these steps.​​

1. Saving Important Emails

  • Use Outlook Web App:
    1. Log in to your school email account.
    2. Select the email​ you want to save.
    3. Click on the three dots and choose “Save As” or “Print”. You can also forward the email to your personal email.
  • Use Outlook Desktop Client:
    1. Open Outlook and select the email/s.
    2. Right-click and choose "Print".

2. Downloading Files from OneDrive

  • Access OneDrive:
    1. Go to the OneDrive website and log in with your school account. Or access via file explorer.
    2. Navigate to the files and folders you wish to keep.
  • Download Files:
    1. Select the files or folders you want to download.
    2. Click on “Download” to save them to your local device. Or drag and drop if doing via file explorer.

3. Saving Your BitLocker Recovery Key

  • Find Your Recovery Key:
    1. Go to your Microsoft account page (https://account.micro​soft.com/devices/recoverykey).
    2. Log in with your school email account.
    3. Click on "MANAGE DEVICES".
    4. Click on your device.
    5. Click on "View BitLocker Keys".
  • Save the Key:
    1. Write down the key or take a screenshot.
    2. Store it in a secure location, like a password manager or a physical copy, to ensure you have access in the future.

Final Reminder
